WE ARE ROCKHARZ – A Festival for Everyone
ROCKHARZ Kompass
Our navigation app for visually impaired people and anyone who wants to find their way around our festival.
With ROCKHARZ Kompass, we are introducing the first app in Germany that allows visually impaired people to move around our festival grounds independently.
How does it work?
We have marked relevant locations at the festival in our app and created virtual routes between them. Additional information, such as drinks and food menus, is available for some locations. Navigation is provided via audio or haptic feedback.
• You can download our free ROCKHARZ Kompass app from the Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store onto your smartphone.
• After launching the app, you will be taken to the welcome screen.
There you will find links to the running order, the festival ABC, information about autograph sessions, and further information for people with disabilities.
• At the bottom of the page, you can switch between the welcome page and the points (locations).
The points page lists all relevant locations at our festival, such as toilets, food and drink stands, emergency exits, and much more. We also indicate the category of the location, the distance, and the direction.
• Use the Category button to narrow down the selection of locations displayed according to these categories. For example, only beverage stands.
Select a location to view the stored information.
You can start navigation at the bottom of the page.
Haptic feedback:
• If you are on the right track, there will be a ping.
• If you stray from the path, there will be a double ping or slow ping depending on the direction of the deviation.
• Vibration indicates that you are heading in the wrong direction.
Other:
• At the top left, you will find the settings (gear icon) for speech speed and edge lengths.
You do not usually need to change the edge length.
• At the top right, “Save current position” (tent icon)
• 3-dot menu – Reset your own settings, such as your own points
Finally, a note on our own behalf. This app was developed for navigation in the great outdoors and is a novelty.
